Frances Fox Piven is a distinguished professor of political science and sociology at The Graduate Center, City University of New York. She is a co-author, with Richard A. Cloward, of The Breaking of the American Social Compact; a co-author, with Lorraine C. Minnite and Margaret Groarke, of Keeping Down the Black Vote: Race and the Demobilization of American Voters; and the author of The War at Home: The Domestic Costs of Bush’s Militarism and Who’s Afraid of Frances Fox Piven?: The Essential Writings of the Professor Glenn Beck Loves to Hate, all published by The New Press. She lives in New York City.
