VICKI L. EAKLOR (1954-2018)

The New Press notes the recent passing of Vicki L. Eaklor, author of Queer America: A People's GLBT History of the United States. Vicky was a professor of history at Alfred University, served as the former chair of the Committee on Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, & Transgender History (CLBGTH), and has been at the forefront of fighting for LGBTQ rights, both locally and nationally.  A great friend, an amazing percussionist, historian, and fierce advocate—it was fitting that the she passed on International Women's Day. 

Vicki had been fighting cancer for the last three years. In addition to enduring this tragic news, her partner, Pat, is still fighting her own battle against cancer.
