UC Berkeley sociologist Arlie Russell Hochschild spent five years in Louisiana learning about and from Americans living in an economically depressed region who felt like they have been left behind. Her book Strangers In Their Own Land: Anger and Mourning on the American Right details her experiences. Hochschild will speak about her years in the Deep South and the insights they've given her into Trump's electorate.
