When writer Ngũgĩ wa Thiong'o was imprisoned in Kenya's Kamiti Maximum Security Prison, he made a conscious effort to fight back against the humiliation and spiritual degradation by writing. At the festival, he will share his memoir Wrestling with the Devil, and his unforgettable chronicle of the year this brilliant novelist and memoirist, long favored for the Nobel Prize, was thrown in a Kenyan jail without charge.
