Robert Bober was born a child of Polish Jews in Berlin in 1931. In 1933 his family emigrated to France. He is a film and stage director and writer who has directed more than 120 films for television. He is the author of several books, including Wide Awake (The New Press) and the Prix du Livre Inter–winning Quoi de neuf sur la guerre?, and a co-author, with Georges Perec, of Ellis Island (The New Press). Bober lives in Paris.
