Örjan Appelqvist is an economic historian specializing in the early post–World War II economies of Sweden and Western Europe and in the intellectual heritage of Gunnar Myrdal. As an associate professor in the Department of Economic History at the University of Stockholm, he developed its courses in international relations. He was one of the founding members of the Attac movement in Sweden. Now based in Paris, he participates in various networks of European heterodox economists favoring social and ecological concerns as a basis for a renewal of economic thought. He is a co-editor, with Stellan Andersson, of The Essential Gunnar Myrdal (The New Press).
