Lynne Cooke is senior curator, special projects in modern art, at the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C. Previously she was the deputy director and chief curator at the Museo Reina Sofia, Madrid, and the curator at the Dia Art Foundation. She has published widely on contemporary art and is co-editor of Joseph Beuys: Arena and co-editor (with Peter Wollen) of Visual Display: Culture Beyond Appearances: Discussions in Contemporary Culture #10 (The New Press). She has also taught at various institutions including the University of London.
