Laura E. Gómez is a professor of law, sociology, and Chicana/Chicano studies at UCLA. She is the author of Inventing Latinos (The New Press) as well as Manifest Destinies, Mapping Race, and Misconceiving Mothers. She lives in Los Angeles.
