S. Shankar is is a novelist, critic, and translator. He is the author of Textual Traffic and the novels No End to the Journey and A Map of Where I Live and a co-editor, with Louis G. Mendoza, of Crossing into America (The New Press). He is a professor in the English department at the University of Hawai'i at Manoa.
